Xarelto® (Rivaroxaban)

Xarelto® is a fast-acting, oral, direct Factor Xa inhibitor that provides simple 24 hour protection for your patients from thrombosis.

Indications

    Xarelto® 10 is indicated for:
    Prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients undergoing major orthopaedic surgery of the lower limbs.

     

    Administration: Oral
    Bioavailability: 80 – 100% (10 mg without food)
    Half-Life: 5 - 9 hours in young adults, 11 - 13 hours in elderly)
    Time to Peak Concentration: 2 - 4 hours
    Renal Excretion: 33% (unchanged drug)
    The recommended dose is one Xarelto 10 tablet once daily*.
    Rivaroxaban 10 mg can be taken with or without food.


    * Since the duration of treatment with Xarelto 10 differs between orthopaedic procedures, please refer to the approved package insert (attached) for treatment duration.

    XARELTO 15 and XARELTO 20 are indicated for:

    • Prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (SPAF).
    • The recommended dose is one XARELTO 20 tablet once daily.

    For patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 50 to 30 ml/min) the recommended dose is one XARELTO 15 tablet once daily
    Rivaroxaban 15 mg and 20 mg should be taken with food.

    XARELTO 15 and XARELTO 20 are indicated for:

    • Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) / pulmonary embolism (PE and for the prevention of recurrent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
    • The recommended dose for the initial treatment of acute DVT and PE is one XARELTO 15 tablet twice daily for the first three weeks followed by one XARELTO 20 tablet once daily.

    Rivaroxaban 15 mg and 20 mg should be taken with food.
